The New Hanover County Fire Department says improper disposal of a cigarette ignited the fire at the Meridian Village apartment complex. The $4.2 million project was shelved by Mayor Jerry Sanders last year as part of his plan to close a $179 million budget gap and buy time while the City Council considers whether to build a new City Hall complex. 02/24/2010 Sprinklers in new homes in Wales, U.K., one step closer 2/24/2010 - The National Assembly for Wales has approved the draft Domestic Fire Legislative Competence Order which states that all new homes built in Wales must be fitted with sprinkler systems.
