CECIL BILBO
Cecil Bilbo is President of the Academy of Fire Sprinkler Technology and a faculty member at Parkland College in Champaign, Illinois.  In August of 2009, he launched the first educational program that leads to a degree specifically for those that layout and detail fire sprinkler systems at Parkland College.  He was named FPC Magazine’s “Person of the Year” for 2011.  He is a member of the NFPA 3, 4, 13, 14, and 25 Committees, and is a member of the Building Commissioning Association’s Professional Development Committee.  He is a contributing author to NFPA’s Sprinkler System Handbook and Commissioning and Integrated Testing Handbook.

CHRISTOPHER BORN, PE
Christopher Born, PE, is the Director of Clark Nexsen’s fire protection engineering department and has 24 years of experience in the design and construction of government, private and commercial facilities. Mr. Born’s experience covers many types of fire protection systems including wet pipe, dry pipe, preaction and deluge sprinklers, fire standpipes, fire pumps and clean agent gaseous suppression systems. Prior to being employed at Clark Nexsen, Mr. Born was employed as project manager/estimator and fire protection engineer with Virginia Sprinkler Co. (now VSC Fire & Security) where he worked on a multitude of projects including hospitals, distribution centers, a shopping mall, and hotels. Mr. Born worked for over 7 years at the Atlantic Division, Naval Facilities Engineering Command (NAVFAC Atlantic), including a brief period as the acting head of the fire protection engineering branch of the Engineering and Design Division. A graduate of the University of Maryland with a B.S. in Fire Protection Engineering and Old Dominion University with a Masters in Engineering Management, Mr. Born is a licensed fire protection engineer in multiple states and is also a member of several professional organizations including NSPE, NFPA, and SFPE.

BOB CAPUTO
Bob Caputo, CFPS, CET, splits his time between Fire & Life Safety America, based in Richmond, VA, live seminars, and his consulting practice.  Bob is a primary member of the NFPA 13 Installation and Discharge Committees, and the NFPA 4 and NFPA 25 Committees.  He is an internationally known instructor for NFPA and AFSA on fire protection and life safety systems.  He is the author of many technical papers and articles and a contributor to the NFPA Automatic Sprinkler Systems Handbook (2013 Ed.).  Bob has been a member of the fire protection community for more than 30 years and attended the University of Albuquerque New Mexico.

JOHN DENHARDT, PE
John is the Quality Control Manager for Strickland Fire Protection of College Park, MD.  He has a B.S. degree in Fire Protection Engineering from the University of Maryland, holds NICET Level III certificates in automatic sprinkler system layout and inspection & testing of water-based systems, and is a registered Professional Engineer in numerous states.  Denhardt is a member of the NFPA 13 Sprinkler Discharge Committee, a fellow of the SFPE, and a member of the NFPA and AFSA.

A. HOLT GWYN
Holt Gwyn is a native North Carolinian who has been a trial lawyer since 1976.  His practice today is concentrated in construction, environmental, business, white-collar criminal defense, and employment disputes for private industry clients.  Mr. Gwyn has extensive experience in alternative dispute resolution procedures and is one of five mediators recently selected by the American Arbitration Association for its Carolinas Construction Mediation Panel.  He’s authored several books and more than two dozen articles on construction and environmental topics.  Mr. Gwyn is presently Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of the American College of Construction Lawyers.  He lectures frequently to bar and industry groups and serves as Counsel for AFSA’s Carolinas Chapter.

MATT KLAUS, PE
Matt Klaus is a Senior Fire Protection Engineer at the National Fire Protection Association, where he is responsible for NFPA documents addressing commissioning, integrated system testing, and automatic sprinkler systems.  He presently holds a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, as well as a Master’s degree in Fire Protection Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute.  He is a member of the Salamander Honorary Fire Protection Engineering Society.  His experience includes designing and commissioning fire protection systems including smoke control systems, suppression systems, and fire alarm systems.

RUSS LEAVITT, CFPS, SET
Russ is the Executive Chairman of Telgian Corporation, an international firm providing fire protection engineer, consulting, contracting, and compliance services. He is a graduate of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, holds a Level IV certification from NICET in Fire Sprinkler Layout, and is a Certified Fire Protection Specialist.   He is a licensed contractor and has 31 years of experience in the design, installation, and testing of fire protection systems.  He currently serves as a principle on the Technical Correlating Committee on Automatic Sprinkler Systems, the NFPA 25 Technical Committee, the Technical Committee for the Commissioning and Integrated Testing of Fire Protection Systems (NFPA 3 and 4), and the NFPA 5000 (building code) Technical Correlating Committee. In addition, he serves as an alternate on the Installation Technical Committee for NFPA 13.  He has authored a number of articles and training materials including the AFSA Study Guide for NICET Certification on Inspections & Testing, the AFSA online hydraulics courses, and the NFPA Professional Development series.  In addition, he is a major contributor for the 2011 NFPA 25 Handbook.  Russ is a member of AFSA, NFPA and SFPE.

ROBERT LEONHART
Robert has 40 years of experience in commercial lines and program development.  In addition to receiving every major Life and Health award in this industry and the 1992 Presidents' Award from the Independent Insurance Agents Association of America, Robert is Program Manager for thirty programs.  Current activities include Executive Vice President of Blue River Underwriters Programs Division where he oversees the underwriting of these thirty construction programs, and is on the Board of Directors for Electrical Industry.  He has been the national consultant for AFSA since 1988 and developed the commercial insurance program for AFSA, which is the most successful program for sprinkler contractors in the nation.

E. PARKS MOORE, CFPS, SET
Parks Moore is the Sales Manager for S & S Sprinkler Company in Mobile, AL. He has a Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Vanderbilt University and a Master's in Business Administration from Tulane University.  He is a Certified Fire Protection Specialist and holds a NICET IV certification in automatic sprinkler system layout. He currently serves as an alternate member on the NFPA 13 Technical Committee for Hanging and Bracing and is a principal member of the NFPA 15 Technical Committee for Water Spray Fixed Systems. He is a past president of the Alabama Fire Sprinkler Association and has been actively involved as one of its board members since 2007.  Parks is also a member of AFSA and NFPA.

STEVEN SCANDALIATO, CFPS, SET
Steven Scandaliato is Principal and managing director at SDG, LLC. He has over 30 years’ experience in fire protection engineering, design, and project management covering all types of fire suppression and life safety systems.  He serves on the Technical Advisory Committee for the AFSA and represents AFSA as a member of the NFPA 13, 15, 101, and 5000 Committees.  He has written several articles for industry publications and is a contributing author to “A Designer’s Guide to Automatic Sprinkler Systems”, published by the NFPA/SFPE.  He is a national speaker, teaching thousands in contracting and professional associations, including the AFSA, SFPE, the American Society of Plumbing Engineers, the American Institute of Architects, and the International Fire Marshals Association.  He is a member of NFPA, SFPE, and AFSA.

JAMES SCHUG
Jim Schug is a consultant with FMI, management consultants and investment bankers for the construction industry.  He specializes in organizational development, teambuilding, productivity improvement consulting, and strategic planning.  Jim is a registered speaker with the National Association of Home Builders and serves as an instructor with the Home Builders Institute.  He’s earned a Bachelor of Science degree in theoretical economics from the United States Military Academy at West Point, and a Master’s of Engineering Management from the University of Missouri.  He is a member of the Society of American Military Engineers.

DAVE SORNSIN
Dave Sornsin has over 25 years’ experience in the fire sprinkler and special hazards industries. He grew up working all facets of his family’s fire sprinkler contracting business and in 2001 was co-founder of a fire protection engineering firm. In 2006, he began work with a special hazards company involved in designing and selling foam, clean agent, fire alarm, kitchen hood systems, and fire extinguishers. Dave returned to the fire sprinkler industry by joining Rapid Fire Protection in 2012 as their North Dakota Regional Manager.  Dave is a member of the NFPA 11 Foam Committee and has attained a NICET III in automatic sprinkler system layout.

HANS STEWART
Hansford Stewart is the Director of Global Marketing for A-C Fire Pump Systems.  He has been with the company for 38 years focused on stationary fire pumps systems.  Hans is honored to serve as a Principal on NFPA 20 Technical Committee.  He also serves on UL’s Standard Technical Panel for UL 448 and 1247.  In addition, he also serves on Factory Mutual’s Advisory Board.  Hans conducts many NFPA 20 and NFPA 25 seminars around the world.  He has published several articles related to fire pump installations, testing, inspection and maintenance requirements.

RANDY STUTZMAN
Randy Stutzman is a principal in FMI’s Investment Banking practice.  As a specialist in corporate mergers, acquisitions, and strategy development, Randy helps contractors throughout the country develop and implement plans that are uniquely tailored to meet individual needs, including acquire additional business, sell existing business units or ensure that profitable organic growth is achieved.  He is a graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania, holding a Master of Business Administration.

DONALD TOWNLEY, PE
Donald Townley, PE, is the Global Codes and Approvals Manager with FBC Building Solutions of The Lubrizol Corporation. He holds a BSME from the University of Cincinnati and is a licensed professional engineer. He has more than 20 years of experience related to the design and installation of CPVC pipe and fitting systems used in fire sprinkler, industrial chemical, and potable water distribution applications. Townley has been active in code development activities, presenting numerous code changes to both UPC and IPC. He is a former member of the NFPA Technical Committee on Residential Sprinkler Systems and the IAPMO Standards.

TERRY VICTOR, SET
Terry Victor, National Manager of Sprinkler Business Processes at SimplexGrinnell, has over 39 years of technical experience in the sprinkler industry.  He serves on various industry boards and committees, including the NICET Fire Protection Advisory Group, and is NICET Level IV certified in Sprinkler System Layout and Special Hazards System Layout.  He is a member of several NFPA technical committees including those for NFPA 3, NFPA 4, NFPA 13, NFPA 13D, NFPA 13R, NFPA 20, and NFPA 25.

KEN WAGONER, CFPE, CFPS, SET
Ken is a 1977 graduate of Bethany College (KS), and owner of Parsley Consulting, located in Escondido, CA.  He has 31 years of experience in automatic sprinkler system and fire alarm system design, plan review, and construction management. Wagoner has achieved NICET certification in the subfields of automatic sprinkler system layout (IV), fire alarm systems (III) and inspection & testing (III). He has earned NFPA certification as a Fire Protection Specialist (CFPS), and Fire Plan Examiner (CFPE).  He is an AFSA-designated alternate representative to the NFPA 1031 Committee (responsible for the Standard for Professional Qualifications for Fire Inspectors and Plan Examiners), and the Hanging and Bracing Committee of NFPA 13 (responsible for the Standard for the Installation of Sprinkler Systems).  He is also chairman and a principal member of both the NFPA 24 Committee (responsible for the Standard for the Installation of Private Fire Service Mains) and the NFPA 291 Committee (Recommended Practice for Fire Flow Testing & Marking of Hydrants), and a non-voting member of the NFPA 13 Technical Correlating Committee.  He has published numerous articles on seismic bracing, hydraulic calculations, system design and the plan review process, has presented online virtual seminars, and teaches classes sponsored by the San Diego Fire Protection Association and the American Fire Sprinkler Association. He is an active member of NFPA, AFSA, SCAFSA, and SDFPA.
