This webinar will be an introduction to utilizing the storage chapters in NFPA 13, 2016 Edition to select the proper protection schemes for protecting rack stored commodities. This webinar will cover some of the relatively newer sprinklers available to protect higher levels of storage without in-rack sprinklers. It will also review important FM Global criteria on the protection of rack stored commodity. As the possibilities of rack storage configuration and commodity are almost endless, this webinar will provide an overview of the topic and show attendees where they may find additional information.

One of the biggest risks to a company in a low-margin construction economy is executing a project differently than how it was estimated (and vice versa). The best way to maintain profitability is to create field-friendly budgets, to aggressively track and manage direct costs, and to incorporate actual performance into future estimates.

The 2019 edition of NFPA 13 reorganizes the requirements for the protection of storage in a completely new way. This webinar reviews the new format which includes a revised general storage chapter and organizes ceiling protection into chapters by sprinkler type. This webinar also includes a thorough review of the new chapter dealing with in-rack sprinkler protection.

The 2019 edition of NFPA 13 is a complete reformat of the previous editions. This webinar will provide an overview of the new format and how to use the reorganized document. It will also include a review of the major technical revisions included in the new edition. This webinar is part 1 in a 4-part series on the 2019 edition of NFPA 13, Standard for the Installation of Sprinkler Systems. Part 2 will be on the seismic updates, part 3 will be on storage changes, and part 4 will be on attics and concealed spaces.

The 2019 edition of NFPA 13 will contain significant revisions regarding hardware and fasteners as well as other changes to the process of providing protection of fire sprinkler systems from seismic events. Along with other sections of the standard, the provisions for seismic protection have been relocated. All of the information and requirements formerly in section 9.3 are contained in chapter 18. This webinar will highlight and explain some of the changes, as well as provide a refresher for some of the requirements and omissions permitted. This webinar is part 2 in a 4-part series on the 2019 edition of NFPA 13. Part 3 will be on storage and part 4 will be on attics and concealed spaces.

This webinar will cover the recent changes to OSHA's Silica in Construction Standard with specific emphasis on concerns for fire sprinkler installation. Presented by Rob Agnew, CIH, Assistant Professor at Oklahoma State University. The presentation will include a basic overview of the hazards of respirable crystalline silica, basics of exposure controls, exposure monitoring, and the implementation of an exposure control plan. Specific details on points of concern for sprinkler installation will be presented along with strategies for silica exposure control in multi-employer worksites. This webinar would benefit fire sprinkler contractors.

The task of creating a fire sprinkler system estimate requires that you be able to quickly create a conceptual plan of a project. As an alternative to doing a complete design and hydraulic analysis, this webinar will illustrate the use of the same principles needed in that approach while requiring only a fraction of the detailed information. This webinar will illustrate an organized worksheet for sizing the pipes in a tree, looped, or gridded system along with a description of its application, including examples of multiple types of systems. This process will be enough fun that you won’t feel like you’re doing any work at all.

The 2019 edition of NFPA 20 has incorporated many changes that allow fire pump manufacturers, installers, and inspection, testing, and maintenance personnel to use the latest technologies and best practices. New fire pump designs that include the use of variable speed pumps and controllers, components for vertical shaft turbine-type pumps, suction diffusers, and many other new devices are addressed. New protection schemes such as those for high rise and very high rise buildings are clarified. New allowances for providing remote monitoring, inspections, and testing devices are included. This webinar will outline and explain the most significant changes to this NFPA installation standard.
