Webinar: Low Voltage System Basics
This webinar will be an introduction to basic low voltage applications and in particular, fire alarm systems. It will review various components of the fire alarm system, such as initiating devices, notification appliances, and types of signals. This webinar will cover various code requirements in regard to wiring, design, and battery calculations to help fire sprinkler contractors seeking low voltage information necessary to install a full code-compliant fire alarm system.



Upon completion of this low voltage webinar, participants should be able to:
     1. Identify the components of a fire alarm system;
     2. Describe the NFPA 72 requirements that define how certain devices and appliances should be installed;
     3. Define documentation requirements of a fire alarm system.


Required Materials:

NFPA 72, 2016 Edition Standard. All participants are strongly encouraged to have a copy of the applicable NFPA standard with you during the webinar. The speaker will reference numerous NFPA figures and tables. Images from the NFPA standards will not be made available to you by the instructor or in-class materials. It is critical to have the standard with you to refer to as the instructor leads. You can access the standard for FREE online at NFPA.org.

    Tony Moore is a Training and Technical Specialist for Potter Electric Signal Company, LLC. Prior to joining Potter Electric Signal Company, LLC in 2015, he worked as a technician installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting fire alarm systems for 8 years. He designed fire alarm systems at one of the nation’s largest engineering firms for malls, high-rise buildings, and other major retailers throughout the US for 3 years. Tony holds a NICET Level III certification in Fire Alarm Systems and has an Associate of Applied Science degree in Network Design and Administration.
