AFSA Announces New Chapter in Michigan
New Chapter Officers Will Take on Leadership Roles
Adding strength to numbers, the American Fire Sprinkler Association (AFSA), the nation’s leading fire sprinkler industry group, is pleased to announce the recent formation of its Michigan chapter. The decision to join the national trade group as its 23rd official chapter was made on April 24, 2017 in Hasting, Michigan. The chapter hopes to bring training and educational resources to contractors as well as create a unified voice for open shop fire sprinkler contractors in legislative matters throughout the state.
“I am proud to welcome the Michigan chapter into the AFSA family,” says AFSA Director of Member Services, Bradley Elliott. “Many significant achievements of our association are accomplished at the local level. The addition of our Michigan AFSA Chapter will help members in that area access important technical and legislative information as well as open the door for great networking opportunities.”
The newly elected officers include: Chairman Doug Irvine, Jr., Brigade Fire Protection in Belmont, Michigan; Vice Chairman Tom Gustafson, Total Fire Protection in Grand Rapids, Michigan; Secretary Greg Dittenber, Jimco Fire Protection, Inc. in Au Gres, Michigan; Treasurer Michael Bosma, Viking SupplyNet in Warren, Michigan, and Membership Chair Sandy Richter, Viking SupplyNet in Warren, Michigan. The chapter’s executive director will be Frank L. Mortl, who was instrumental in the chapter’s creation.
AFSA is a non-profit association representing fire sprinkler contractors. The association is dedicated to the educational advancement of its members and promotion of the use of automatic fire sprinkler systems. AFSA was organized in 1981 to provide the merit shop fire sprinkler contractor with training, consulting, communication, representation and many more services, all of which have expanded over its existence. Membership is open to contractors, manufacturers, suppliers, designers and authorities having jurisdiction. Currently, AFSA represents companies and individuals across the United States and throughout the world. To find your local AFSA chapter or to learn more, visit firesprinkler.org.
