Webinar: NFPA 13: Obstruction Rules Explained

In the development of fire sprinkler system designs, the layout process of fire sprinklers, or “spotting the dot,” is no doubt the most important part. And for those of us practitioners spending hours at this task, finding the right place to spot this dot can be very tedious. Having a good working knowledge of the obstruction to spray pattern rules is imperative to designers, fitters and AHJs alike. This webinar will focus on the four categories of obstructions with discussions about the black, the white, and all of the gray that comes with this topic.

AFSA's Beginning Fire Sprinkler System Planning School presents a comprehensive, practical approach to preparing fire sprinkler system drawings.

Students receive two full weeks (Mon-Fri) of instruction, 60% of which is study and review of NFPA 13 (2016 Ed.).

The other 40% is preparation of fire sprinkler system layout, shop drawings, and hydraulic calculations. This class is geared towards those with limited experience who need assistance with design and those wanting to refresh their experience.

Connecticut Chapter Burn Trailer Demonstration

Each spring the Connecticut Chapter participates in the ABC Constructio Pro Rodeo. This event, in its 6th year, showcases careers in construction to High School Students and promoting the industry's image through career days, safety seminars, hands on demonstrations, and networking between contractors. The Connecticut Chapter runs a Burn Trailer Demonstration as a hands-on, educational experience in fire suppression. Last year nearly 1,600 high school students and young adults participated, with a greater number expected in 2017.
